新大楽前発電所は、1999年11月に同和鉱業株式会社によって運転が開始されました。
2006年10月に同和鉱業株式会社から現在のDOWAホールディングスに社名が変更されました。
新大楽発電所は、止滝発電所の放水路から接続されている水路からの水を使用して発電がおこなわれています。
